Philadelphia’s Intramural Sports for Adults

Whether you’re a full-time university student or taking a few classes to further your education, here are some sports and fitness opportunities to consider. 

Sports at Community College of Philadelphia

The Community College of Philadelphia (CCP) offers intramural sports for enrolled students, faculty, staff, and even alumni. There are men’s, women’s, and co-ed teams, depending on the sport and season.

CCP’s intramural sports include:

  • Volleyball
  • Whiffle Ball 
  • Indoor Soccer
  • Ultimate Frisbee
  • Wallyball
  • Kickball

For full-time students at CCP (at least 12 credits per semester), you can try out for these intercollegiate sports teams:

  • Basketball (men’s and women’s)
  • Cross Country and Track (men’s and women’s)
  • Women’s Volleyball

PennState Intramural Sports

The Philadelphia chapter of PennState offers intramural sports for students and alumni. 

Sports vary by season and include kickball, soccer, and more. Participants are involved in the Philadelphia Sports Leagues (PSL) and corresponding schedules. Reach out to the activities director on their website to learn more and get signed up!

Intramural Sports at the University of Pennsylvania

UPenn encourages the undergraduate and graduate community to get involved and stay active with yearly intramural sports. Leagues include:

The Jefferson Recreation & Fitness Center at the Center City campus offers countless intramural sports opportunities for those part of the Jefferson community. If you’re enrolled in Jefferson University, you can access the sports schedule or sign up on their IM Leagues web page.

Villanova University Intramural Sports

Fall and spring sports are available through the Villanova University intramural program. There are organized leagues, tournaments, men’s, women’s, and open leagues for students and alumni.

Sports include volleyball, flag football, soccer, dodgeball, and disk golf during the fall. In the spring, there’s handball, basketball, softball, indoor soccer, tennis, and more.

Philadelphia City 6 Extramural Sports

Want to compete with other colleges while enrolled in intramural sports? The Philadelphia City 6 is composed of six local universities that compete for championships.

Drexel University, Saint Joseph’s University, Temple University, LaSalle University, University of Pennsylvania, and Villanova University offer undergraduate intramural competitions. Sports include flag football, softball, basketball, and volleyball.

Youth Intramural Sports in Philly

Parkwood Youth Organization

The Parkwood Youth Organization can help you locate intramural sports and upcoming tryouts for your kids. Leagues are located throughout Philly and surrounding areas.

Somerton Spartans Sports Leagues

  • You can also look on the Phield House website, as they offer rotating intramural opportunities for kids and adults. 
  • Heyday Athletic is another great option to find league and club sports for adults who aren’t involved in any academic program but want the same formality of a team.
